Power to Decide Receives 2020 Platinum Seal of Transparency by Guidestar

“We are honored to have received the 2020 Platinum Seal of Transparency recognizing our commitment to ensuring that all people have access to the full range of contraceptive methods and quality sexual health information, ” Gillian Sealy, CEO, Power to Decide

Power to Decide is proud to announce that it was awarded the 2020 Platinum Seal of Transparency by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on nonprofit organizations. The recent recognition marks the fourth time the Platinum Seal was awarded to Power to Decide.

The platinum rating is GuideStar’s highest level of recognition. In previous years, GuideStar has recognized Power to Decide with the silver, gold and most recently, with the platinum rating.

“We are honored to have received the 2020 Platinum Seal of Transparency recognizing our commitment to ensuring that all people have access to the full range of contraceptive methods and quality sexual health information, ” said Gillian Sealy, CEO, Power to Decide. “And with the recent efforts to dismantle a woman’s access to reproductive health care, this award is a testament to our commitment to using our resources to ensure that all women have the power to decide if, when and under what circumstances to get pregnant and have a child.”

For more than 20 years, Power to Decide has been a recognized source of objective, evidence-based information about sexual health and contraceptive options – working to guarantee equitable access to and information about the full range of birth control methods. Power to Decide believes that all young people should have the opportunity to pursue the future they want, realize their full potential and follow their intentions.

“Women of color, women living in poverty and those living in rural areas continue to face barriers when it comes to accessing contraception, such as cost of transportation, childcare and time off work. With every dollar we receive, we are committed to breaking down these barriers so that all have access to the reproductive health care they need and deserve,” Sealy added.

Power to Decide’s Contraceptive Access Fund, BCBenefits, helps women overcome commonly-faced barriers to access contraception. To learn more about how we are helping women through BCBenefits, or to donate, please visit here.
