OLEDWorks Bolsters Support to Lighting Community with OLED Light Technology Expert Hire

OLEDWorks is the leading manufacturer of OLED light technology for general lighting and automotive applications.

The Director of OLED UX serves as the lead technical sales engineer and is responsible for leading the OLED user experience through the sales process and in developing educational resources for the lighting community.

OLEDWorks, the leading manufacturer of OLED light technology for the general lighting and automotive industries, announces today their newest team member, Dr. Kathleen Vaeth, as Director of OLED User Experience (UX).

Dr. Vaeth is a chemical engineer with a B.S. from Cornell University and Masters and Ph.D. from MIT. She began her career as a scientist and project leader in the Kodak Research Labs, working on OLEDs, among other technologies. After Kodak, she was the Vice President of Engineering at microGen Systems developing MEMs-based piezoelectric vibrational energy harvesters that power sensors and transmitters used in the internet of things. In 2017, Dr. Vaeth joined the faculty of the Robert Frederick Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell as a Senior Lecturer and Industrial Practitioner.

“Over the last two years, the demand for our products, both standard and custom, increased significantly, and we knew we needed sophisticated technical support in Sales, Marketing and R&D,” says Michael Boroson, Chief Technology Officer at OLEDWorks. “Having worked with Kathy on OLED technology while at Kodak, I knew she would be the perfect fit. We’re excited to have her on the team and are confident that her expertise will help drive success for the company through various important initiatives.”

The Director of OLED UX serves as the lead technical sales engineer and is responsible for leading the OLED user experience through the sales process and in developing educational resources for the lighting community. Key areas of focus are sales support, thought leadership and education, strategy and product development, and project management specific to R&D and government projects.

To educate architects, lighting designers, luminaire manufacturers and other lighting professionals on OLED light technology, the OLEDWorks UX Team provides accredited courses on various topics including its health and wellbeing benefits, installation and handling guidelines, application efficiency and more.

On her new role as Director of OLED User Experience, Dr. Vaeth says “I’ve worked on many different technologies, but the common thread through them all is my interest in how materials selection and processing method impact their performance in electronic and optoelectronic devices. I’m excited to be joining the OLEDWorks team and meeting with designers and customers to help them to understand the potential benefits of OLED lighting. I’m also looking forward to engaging with lighting technologists to explore the new directions and design capabilities that OLED lighting can provide.”
