Ark Behavioral Health, a renowned behavioral healthcare provider headquartered in Massachusetts, has opened its first out-of-state addiction treatment center in Van Wert, Ohio. The Ohio Recovery Center is a 50-acre campus offering medical detox and residential treatment for drug and alcohol abuse and addiction.

Creating and filling over 70 full-time positions, the multidisciplinary staff boasts a variety of treatment professionals with varying degrees of education, independent licensure, and specialized training. The Ohio Recovery Center has received licensure and accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in addition to the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (Ohio MHAS).

This comes at a time when Ohio is facing an influx in drug use; according to the Ohio Department of Health, over 5,000 Ohioans died of drug overdoses in 2021—the highest number ever recorded in the state. Some of the most dangerous drugs in the state include cocaine, alcohol, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl.
“While the opioid epidemic tends to generate significant attention from the media, it is important to point out that the most abused substance in the country is alcohol. A report from America’s Health Rankings stated that 17.7% of Ohio residents participated in excessive drinking over the past year.”
The impressive facility includes an array of amenities, such as a basketball gymnasium, fitness center, multiple walking paths, volleyball court and baseball field. The Ohio Recovery Center takes pride in performing individualized treatment planning using evidence-based treatment modalities as well as 12-step immersion and peer support.
