NDA Partners Expert Consultant, Elizabeth T. Martin, MD, Receives 2020 CAP Advocate of the Year Award

I am honored to receive this award for my contributions to CAP’s advocacy efforts and for my long-term commitment to representing pathologists and the field of pathology and laboratory medicine.

NDA Partners Chief Executive Officer Earle Martin announced today that Dr. Elizabeth T. Martin, one of the firm’s prominent Expert Consultants, was recently honored by the College of American Pathologists with the 2020 CAP Advocate of the Year Award. Dr. Martin was recognized for her personal engagement in advocacy and dedication to the pathology profession through her demonstrated long-term commitment to representing pathologists through regular contributions to CAP’s PathPAC and through her advocacy efforts to local lawmakers on health care policy.

Dr. Martin is a Board-certified Pathologist with specialized expertise in GI and infectious disease pathology. She currently serves as CLIA Medical Director in the Fairfax County, Virginia Health Department Laboratory and as a Pathologist in several hospitals and independent laboratories in Virginia and Maryland. She was formerly the Medical Director of the Recovery for Life Laboratory, Medical Director of the Tri-State Medical Specialists Laboratory, and Acting Director of Pathology at Holy Cross Hospital in Maryland. She has also served as Assistant Director of the Microbiology Laboratory at the New England Medical Center in Boston and as a local Medical Examiner for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition, she was an Assistant Professor of Pathology at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Most recently, she joined NDA Partners as an Expert Consultant to support clients developing diagnostic and pathology imaging products, obtaining CLIA certification and CAP accreditation, and establishing lab information systems.

Dr. Martin received her medical degree from The University of Virginia and bachelor’s degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the New England Medical Center in Boston, a residency and internship in general surgery at the Hartford Hospital in Connecticut, and a residency in pathology at the Lovelace – Bataan Medical Center in Albuquerque.
