NCPDP Creates New Work Group Focused on Innovation and Care Coordination To Develop and Enhance Standards that Support Pharmacist-provided Clinical Services

NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs)

NCPDP announced the creation of Work Group 20 Care Coordination & Innovation, which will focus on promoting and scaling current and new NCPDP standards that support the expanded role of pharmacists in providing patient care services. Pharmacists are trusted, trained medication experts who can monitor, evaluate and recommend drug therapy and other services to provide whole-person, patient-centered care. The work group aims to enable pharmacists to collaborate in new ways with other healthcare providers to close gaps in care and improve care coordination, which is a top priority of NCPDP. This could support the role of pharmacists in value-based models of care, social determinants of health, precision medicine, digital health, and more.

Work Group 20 Coordination of Care & Innovation will meet on August 2nd during NCPDP’s Joint Technical Work Group Meetings which take place August 2-4, 2023, at The Davenport Grand in Spokane, Washington. The Work Group Meetings are open to NCPDP members and non-members. Online registration, which includes access to all work groups meeting at the event, is open until Friday, July 21, 2023.
