Momentum Refresh on the frontlines of WGAW strike supporting writers with disabilities fighting for more access in the entertainment industry

Momentum Refresh – universally designed mobile restroom

“It’s time for change and the future of disability rights and support is very bright. There is no better time than now to lead the path for true inclusion, opportunity, and access,” states Nagle.

Momentum, a Southern California-based nonprofit, today announced its support of the Writers Guild of America West’s (WGAW) Disability Committee through the donation of its new Refresh vehicle on June 14 for writers with disabilities to have reasonable accommodations needed at picket line locations.

Honorary member of the WGAW’s Disability Committee and Momentum Board of Director member Margaret Nagle tapped the organization to provide accessibility and equity to all writers through Refresh, a first-of-its-kind, mobile restroom resource.

“I know how important it is to have the voice of every member of the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) heard on the picket lines. Momentum’s Refresh vehicle allows writers with disabilities to participate in this effort by offering a safe, sanitary restroom option with specialized apparatus, so they don’t have to sacrifice personal hygiene and sanitation, said Nagle, an award-winning screenwriter, and human rights activist.

The Momentum Refresh vehicle will be located at WGAW picket line at Sony Studios in Culver City on June 14, 2023, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., to give greater access for members of the WGAW community who have limited mobility and a minimally compliant ADA restroom is not sufficient.

“Refresh offers a universal design that provides additional accommodations to meet a basic need. Our solution provides reasonable accommodations that allow people to participate within their community that otherwise might not be able to do so because of a lack of accessibility,” said Momentum President and CEO Lori Anderson.

Momentum Refresh is a resource for businesses that rely on community support and guest attendance. With 8+ million people in the United States needing personal care assistance, an ADA-compliant restroom is insufficient. Venues are missing guest engagement and revenue opportunities. Momentum Refresh’s universally designed mobile personal care vehicle is one solution that enables businesses to provide reasonable accommodations for bringing restroom equity.

“It’s time for change and the future of disability rights and support is very bright. There is no better time than now to lead the path for true inclusion, opportunity, and access,” states Nagle.

Venues and studios can rent Momentum Refresh restrooms for a full or half-day, including a driver and Refresh Ambassador. For information about renting or leasing Momentum Refresh contact (844) 782-2211 or info@momentumrefresh.org. There is never a cost for the individual using Momentum Refresh.
