SpringboardVR, a leading provider of VR venue management and content distribution infrastructure for location-based entertainment (LBE) has hired Michael Festa as Chief Business Officer. Festa most recently served as Director of Distribution for a leading virtual reality game developer and publisher.
As CBO, Festa will focus on expanding SpringboardVR’s content licensing and venue management solutions to more partners across the globe. This includes driving the company’s ongoing evolution into becoming the marketplace of all commercial VR content across entertainment and other verticals through content acquisition, new partnerships for increased distribution, and addressing the needs of SpringboardVR customers.
“Michael Festa has been a force in location-based virtual reality for many years and will bring to SpringboardVR his intimate and valuable understanding of this landscape,” notes SpringboardVR CEO Brad Scoggin. “We are fortunate to bring Festa onto the SpringboardVR leadership team in such a pivotal role at this important point in the company’s growth.”
Festa made a name for himself in the industry by building commercialization and monetization infrastructure for VR in location-based venues. He developed partnerships with hundreds of individual ‘VR arcades’ while managing joint ventures in Asia to oversee distribution in thousands of locations worldwide. He also led third-party publishing by working with large IP holders to streamline and license their out-of-home products, creating one of the largest content distribution networks in LBVR.
“I have always been impressed with SpringboardVR’s ability to grow and service such a rapidly-changing industry,” notes Festa, who assumed his new role with SpringboardVR in January 2020. “SpringboardVR has enabled entrepreneurs to create lasting businesses in out-of-home VR by leveraging the content development community alongside their superior technology, and I greatly look forward to further accelerating the company’s evolution.”
Prior to working in Entertainment, Festa was a Software Engineer in the biomedical and forensics industries, and drove new business development for a worldwide recruiting firm in the engineering staffing sector. Michael is a graduate of the UCLA Samueli School of Engineering.
