Meridian at Bella Mar, a Meridian Senior Living memory care community in Santa Monica, has achieved a deficiency-free survey in March 2019 as administered by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
“Receiving deficiency-free survey results reflects our extraordinary team and their dedication to our mission of enriching the life of every person we serve,” stated Glen Cummins Regional Director of Operations of Meridian Senior Living. “We are proud of their hard work and commitment to excellence in all that they do.”
Achieving a 100% deficiency-free survey is exceptional especially considering California’s rigorous inspection. In order for a senior living community to achieve this status, all services provided at the facility must meet or exceed all state and federal standards. A deficiency-free survey is a key indicator of excellence for a senior living community. According to CDPH’s 2016-17 data report (most recent available) over 17,000 deficiencies were recorded among senior living communities.
Senior living communities are inspected periodically to evaluate services and systems in place and oversee compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. In a multi-day process, inspectors arrive unannounced to assess the facility. Surveyors determine compliance with regulations governing areas including policies and procedures, resident care, quality of care and quality of life, medication administration, medical records, kitchen sanitation, staff competencies, dietary needs, equipment, safety, and overall wellness of the community. The senior living community is awarded a “deficiency-free” survey when all of these regulations are met.
At Meridian at Bella Mar, seniors can expect the highest level of care as supported in receiving a deficiency-free state survey, which is a key consideration when selecting a senior living community.
