Meharry Medical College names Dr. Heather Brown recipient of Distinguished Dentist Award

Meharry Medical College has named Dr. Heather Brown as the Fred C. Fielder D.D.S. Distinguished Dentist Award recipient. The Fielder award will be announced during the 147th annual Fall Convocation for Meharry Medical College on October 3, 2022. The Distinguished Dentist Award honors Dr. Fred C. Fielder, former Chair of the Department of Operative Dentistry, and Dean Emeritus of the School of Dentistry. It is the highest honor awarded to an alumnus of the School of Dentistry who has demonstrated leadership, dedication to the profession, and personal commitment to Meharry’s service mission through the exemplary practice of dentistry.

“Dr. Heather Brown exemplifies this and so much more,” said Dr. Cherae Farmer-Dixon, Dean of Meharry’s School of Dentistry. “Her dedication to the profession, her service to the community, and her unwavering commitment to mentoring makes her the ideal person for this award.”

“I am completely honored and grateful to be selected as the recipient of this most prestigious award,” says Brown. “All that I have accomplished in life and in my professional career is because of God, my family, my professors, my mentors and the core values I learned at Meharry. My goal is to continue to share the life-long learning principles of Meharry Medical College to the community and the next generation of dentists.”
