Mediaplanet announces the launch of its cross-platform campaign “Pain Management.” This campaign will dive into the history of pain relief and how the past has shaped the future by highlighting the companies making new options available to patients. It will also look at the various conditions that plague the millions who are suffering from chronic pain, and how they can treat their pain safely and effectively.

Approximately 80 percent of people who have misused opioids started with a prescription and this misuse causes more than 42,000 deaths annually in the United States. Additionally, many prescription opioid abuse cases start in the home, where children and other family members are able to gain access to the drugs because they are not properly secured. This makes education about the proper storage, use, and disposal of opioids extremely important.

The print component of “Pain Management” is distributed within today’s edition of USA TODAY in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, DC/Baltimore, Atlanta, and Carolinas markets, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 600,000. The digital component is distributed nationally through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. Star of the stage and screen Kristin Chenoweth graces the cover of the print edition and opens up about her long battle with Meniere’s disease, the symptoms of which, she says, have impacted her career. “Sometimes I can just wake up with vertigo,” Chenoweth said. “The reason it stinks is because there’s no warning.” In the cover story, she shares her tips for managing the symptoms of Meniere’s and explains why finding the right support group can be key to overcoming pain. “We’re all just doing the best we can to get through life with any cross to bear and each person is different,” Chenoweth said.

This campaign was made possible with the support of the American Chronic Pain Association, National Safety Council, Cleveland Clinic, Physicians Assistant Foundation, American Pharmacists Association, Sana Health, Spectra Medical Devices, Just CBD, Orthofix, Green Remedy, Nuvothera, Rightful, Discgenics, U.S. Doctors Clinical, Sunbeam, Nura Pain Clinics, Curable, Allied Against Opioid Abuse, Elixinol, and Ebanel.
