MedCurrent Corporation, a global leader in radiology Clinical Decision Support (CDS) solutions, today announced a partnership with Harris Healthcare, a leader in global digital health solutions. MedCurrent’s OrderWise® CDS software will be integrated into Harris Healthcare’s HARRIS Flex and OPUS EHR platforms to provide ordering providers with a seamless way to meet the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) mandate for advanced imaging.
OrderWise® is a CMS qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (CDSM) that guides clinicians through clinical decision pathways to help them order the most appropriate diagnostic imaging tests for their patients directly at the point of care. OrderWise® incorporates diagnostic imaging guidelines from Intermountain Healthcare (IH), the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Foundation—all CMS qualified Provider-Led Entities (qPLEs).
“This partnership means that clinicians currently using Harris Healthcare EHR solutions will now have seamless access to the OrderWise® CDSM to ensure advanced imaging orders for Medicare Part B patients follow best practice guidelines,” said Dr. Stephen Herman, CEO and Founder of MedCurrent. “We are very excited to be working with a market leader like Harris Healthcare to enable physicians not only to meet regulatory requirements but also to have the necessary tools to drive positive health outcomes for their patients.”
With the integration, ordering physicians will be able to launch OrderWise® directly within the HARRIS Flex and OPUS order entry interface with a single click. OrderWise® will obtain inputs from the clinician and automatically return evidence-based recommendations back to the Harris Healthcare EHRs to complete the end-to-end workflow.
The integration of OrderWise® Clinical Decision Support with HARRIS Flex will deliver providers evidence-based decision support enhancing the clinical decision-making process when ordering advanced radiologic testing. “Incorporating best practice guidelines in the ordering process has been shown to improve patient outcomes, support quality initiatives and reduce costs. Additionally, this partnership will help our clients comply with the CMS AUC requirement” says Santina Allen, EVP at Harris Healthcare. “We are excited about our collaboration with a leader in the field of Radiology Clinical Decision Support.”
