This partnership allows us to expand our program with organic and custom oils. We can change the narrative on their perception of life through scent, and this is just the beginning.

Lotus Rising International, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the well-being of children exploited by sex slavery and trafficking, announces its official partnership with Rocky Mountain Oils (RMO), a company that provides 100 percent pure essential oils and products for home, health and beauty.

“Our team is extremely passionate about supporting nonprofits that fight human trafficking,” said Nyah Davis, marketing manager for RMO. “When we learned about Lotus Rising, we were thrilled to create a strong partnership to help expand its recovery programs. Our owner has a very strong calling that this is what she’s supposed to do – help women and children get out of these traumatic circumstances and live a positive and happy life – and she uses RMO to do so. She recognizes that it’s necessary to not only support rescue missions but recovery programs too, as the trauma carries on into the survivors’ new life. We need to consider their emotional and physical health and how these individuals are acclimating to society, getting jobs and thriving.”

“When I started Lotus Rising International, I knew I wanted to implement an aromatherapy program that could assist and support the recovery process of survivors of sex trafficking,” said Maria Aparis, CEO and cofounder of Lotus Rising. “I am passionate about getting my aromatherapy program into the hands of every survivor because I believe it can help. I believe that aromatherapy can be a huge asset to assist with emotional trauma, anxiousness, sadness and so much more.”

The program consists of sending the individual a trio of essential oils that, in combination with the support they receive from expert therapists, will allow them to feel safety and comfort during their early days of rescue. The fragrances consist of calming lavender, uplifting orange and peppermint to provide a sense of peace and refreshment. Maria explains that these three oils are an excellent way to begin calming the fight-or-flight response in recently rescued survivors. “Survivors of trauma have a long road to recovery ahead of them, so it is my intention to give them every single tool that we can to support them in their process.”

“We want to share the benefits of natural oils, in addition to giving back to our community,” Davis said. “For us, this goes beyond financial contributions and also involves collaboration and shared growth. We’re hoping to create a custom branded Lotus Rising product. When customers purchase this, they will also be donating product to Lotus Rising. This allows our current customers to participate in a cause in which we feel strongly.”

“Our team is thrilled to have the support of RMO,” Aparis said. “This partnership allows us to expand our program with organic and custom oils. Survivors have access to scents that help them have a calmer sensory response. We can change the narrative on their perception of life through scent, and this is just the beginning. We are teaching these individuals to implement natural tools rather than rely on pharmaceuticals. With RMO, we’re limitless in what we can do.”
