We couldn’t be more thrilled that the construction is complete and we are able to open this special chapel to our brides and grooms.

Hartman’s Herb Farm, Central Massachusetts’ hidden gem for weddings and events, today revealed its new wedding chapel, offering a unique and special location for clients’ ceremonies. At the bed and breakfast and event venue located in Barre, Massachusetts, couples can exchange nuptials or renewals at this quaint and breathtaking chapel.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled that the construction is complete and we are able to open this special chapel to our brides and grooms,” states Carissa Hartman-Wozniak, owner of Hartman’s Herb Farm. “We’ve never seen anything like this in the area. It’s a non-denominational chapel and something out of a fairy tale.” What makes this chapel so special? It was built by Hartman-Wozniak’s brother for his bride.
The white clapboard chapel with soft green trim was designed and built by Ross Hartman, for his May 2021 wedding. A craftsman and residential contractor by trade, Hartman built the 144-square-foot chapel for his bride, with the dual purpose of providing his sister with a new setting for her clients’ events. Couples can get married on the chapel’s rounded front porch, while guests witness from their seats arranged in the courtyard adjacent to the chapel.
Blending in seamlessly with its surroundings, the chapel features rough-hewn beams, a slate roof, and custom-woodworking throughout. Hartman incorporated many special architectural antiques into the construction including stately French doors saved from a Rhode Island mansion, a bell from a church in New Hampshire, and an arched, leaded-glass window salvaged from the first school his bride went to as a child. Honoring his family’s heritage, Hartman added Swedish-inspired details in the woodwork.
Located in Barre, Massachusetts, Hartman’s Herb Farm has been hosting weddings and special events for more than 40 years. The family-run venue is a New England style farmhouse, with large ceilings, exposed beams, and stone fireplaces. The farm also offers accommodations through its five-room bed and breakfast. Hartman-Wozniak, who purchased the business from her parents in 2007, further rounds out their offerings with floral arrangements, cakes and catering, greenhouses, a gift shop, and now the tiny wedding chapel.
