We evangelize every day for sustainable IT decisions, and provide our customers with rewards for making those smart decisions.

Things are busy at Sage Sustainable Electronics, headquartered just off of Roberts Road on Charter Street in Northwest Columbus. The company recently doubled their Charter Street operation by 38,000 square feet, bringing their total footprint in the area to 76,000 square feet. A simultaneous expansion occurred earlier this year in Sparks, Nevada, as Sage quadrupled its space to over 140,000 square feet in this Reno suburb.
“We’re achieving our mission more every day. That’s what this growth means,” says Jill Vaské, Sage’s Cofounder and President. “This expansion is a testament to our industry leading business model for IT Asset Disposition (ITAD), and is helping us achieve our mission to make the world more sustainable by extending the life of electronics.”
Sage works with companies around the country to ethically and safely repurpose their surplus electronics – mostly through commercial resale, but also through sales to their employees, facilitating internal redeployments and community donations. Equipment with no further utility is recycled to the strictest environmental standards right here in the United States.
Used technology, or e-waste, is the fastest growing waste stream on the planet, generating more than 50,000,000 metric tons of toxic pollutants and refuse per year. The biggest tragedy of this figure is that the majority of these devices are still usable, and less than 18% of them are disposed of through sustainable processes.
“At Sage, we evangelize every day for sustainable IT decisions, and provide our customers with financial, social and environmental rewards for making those smart decisions. We’re keeping devices in service longer, making affordable technology available to all people, and providing meaningful work to over 130 associates – all at the same time,” says Vaské. “In a city like Columbus, full of ambitious sustainability projects, we fit right in.“
What does the future hold for Sage? “We are becoming a major force for sustainability. We’re beating our growth projections for 2020 and plan to open another repurposing center in 2021,” says Vaské. “Our corporate clients love the security, sustainability, and financial rewards we deliver. We are transforming the trust and confidence in Certified Refurbished Electronics, which is especially important these days because new equipment is very constrained. We are deepening our commitment to communities in need by offering ultra-low-cost computers, loaded with genuine Microsoft Windows and Office, to low income communities struggling with affordability. We are a mission driven company, and these tough times inspire our drive to make a difference in the world.”
