Modavar Pharmaceuticals is Frederick’s newest life science company that chose to locate and build their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Located at 4600 Wedgewood Blvd, Suite 0, Modavar Pharmaceuticals will occupy 22,000 square feet and plans to employ approximately 35 people. Presently the space is under construction to meet their requirements. They plan to occupy their new space in December, 2020.
According to Khurshaid Kazmi, Head of Engineering of Modavar Pharmaceuticals, “We chose Frederick County to be our new base for Research and Manufacturing of new and existing therapeutics because of the unmatched support we have received from the local government and also because of the infra-structure of the area. We have noticed a speedy growth in Frederick’s technology hubs and that will attract scientists to come and settle in Frederick.”

Modavar Pharmaceuticals, a sister company of Cadila Pharmaceuticals, plans to produce life-saving products for a variety of health problems. They will be able to specifically serve pediatric and geriatric patients adopting the new concept of individualized treatments. Modavar will run two manufacturing lines, one for liquids and the other will be solids, using new technology they developed.
According to Helen Propheter, Executive Director, Frederick County Economic and Workforce Development, “We are thrilled to have Modavar Pharmaceuticals join our strong life science community. We recognize the tremendous economic benefit Modavar brings to our community and we excited about their new technology.” Due to the critical timing needs of the company, Modavar was approved for Frederick County’s Fast Track permitting placing them as a top priority to meet their occupancy deadline.
