Today the National Grange, National Rural Education Association and RetireSafe sent a letter to leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives urging action on critical issues in rural America
In it, the groups write, “As many Members of Congress understand, living in rural America in the best of times often presents a set of unique challenges for our residents including reduced economic and educational opportunities as well as limited access to health care. When stressed with the added complexities of the Coronavirus, our communities will experience significant economic disruption and unnecessary deaths.”
They outline three specific areas they hope Congress will address in future rounds of funding in response to the COVID crisis:
- rapid transition to mixed technology access for broadband;
- improved health care access and funding
- and an increase to USPS funding as necessary to assure continued rural delivery.
