“The ability to give veterans access to the mental health support they need right at their fingertips will help prevent them from repeating behaviors that lead to these unfortunate circumstances and get on the path to living a productive, independent life.” — Bruce Buckley, CEO of Soldier On.

Let’s Talk Interactive, Inc., (LTI) a leader in customizable Telehealth Networks and Solutions, and Soldier On, a nonprofit organization committed to ending veteran homelessness, today announce they have partnered to implement a new program that provides veterans with greater access to mental health services. Soldier On will leverage LTI’s secure, HIPAA-compliant online software platform and customized telehealth kiosks in its transitional housing, jail programs, and permanent housing in order to further assist our nation’s warfighters as they transition from homelessness to homeownership.
Soldier On’s programs impact an estimated 3,200 veterans annually across four states including Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. With the addition of Let’s Talk Interactive’s kiosks and telehealth software, Soldier On’s case managers will be able to see their clients more frequently to provide mental health services as their travel time is drastically reduced. Additionally, by hosting virtual sessions, case managers and their clients will not be impacted by precautions such as social distancing. As Soldier On grows its presence throughout New Jersey and New York, LTI’s technology will enable them to support all of their permanent housing residents with life skills, substance abuse, and other groups.
“It’s no secret that many veterans suffer from anxiety, depression, anger, and PTSD. These emotional hurdles can lead to drug use, loss of support from family members, vagrancy and in some cases, incarceration,” explains Bruce Buckley, CEO of Soldier On. “The ability to give veterans access to the mental health support they need right at their fingertips will assist them in dealing with these challenges and help prevent them from repeating behaviors that lead to these unfortunate circumstances and get on the path to living a productive, independent life.”
Prior to leveraging LTI’s telehealth technology via iPads and custom kiosks in transitional housing, Soldier On’s staff would travel long distances to their veteran patients each week, spending hours in the car traveling between rural facilities and over state lines. By providing the telehealth piece, instead of misused time behind the wheel, these mental health specialists can connect directly with multiple veterans who receive treatment “in place”–within the same day–and get them the help they need at a more accelerated rate.
“We are proud to partner with Soldier On to help expand the mental health services they are providing to veterans as they work to achieve and sustain homeownership,” said Arthur Cooksey, Founder and CEO of LTI. “Our customized telehealth technology is a key part of that process as we connect more veterans with providers in realtime and help them overcome challenges related to emotions and mental health before they are released.”
LTI has a proven track record of addressing addiction among inmates and assisting them in transitioning to a successful life upon release. In 2019, LTI brought virtual behavioral health assessments and medication-assisted treatment options to Florida’s Franklin County Jail inmates through a partnership with Franklin County Sheriff AJ Smith & Big Bend Community Based Care CEO Mike Watkins. After six months serving the inmates of the Franklin County Jail and five other counties, LTI’s platform has facilitated 52 sessions and 953 minutes of telehealth treatment in mental health and is expected to reduce substance abuse among inmates and decrease recidivism, which will ultimately save taxpayers money.
