Leader in artificial disc replacement and spine medicine innovator Dr. Todd H. Lanman, of Beverly Hills-based Lanman Spinal Neurosurgery, recently spoke at the 2nd Annual ‘Hybrid’ Spine Arthroplasty Summit.
The virtual event was presented by DOCS Spine + Orthopedics, Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14.
Lanman, along with his practice partner Dr. Jason Cuellar, spoke about cervical artificial disc replacement during a 45-minute panel entitled ‘Expanded Cervical ADR Indications,’ moderated by Drs. Richard D. Guyer and Alexander R. Vaccaro.
Some of the topics Lanman touched upon involved multilevel cervical artificial disc replacement, new devices and clinical trials, and a new off-label procedure he has pioneered, Restorative Motion Surgery, in which he removes a patient’s fusion, implanting artificial disc replacement devices in its place in order to restore a patient to near or complete motion and mobility.
On the following day, Dr. Lanman joined five other spine specialists on a similar subject involving expanding indications for the lumbar spine in a panel called ‘Expanding Lumbar ADR Indications.’
Serving as principal investigator on a majority of FDA-endorsed clinical trials on motion preservation, including two current ongoing ones for the prodisc SK and Vivo and Synergy, Dr. Lanman is often at the forefront of major advances in the worlds of spinal medicine and artificial disc replacement.
Dr. Lanman has been named a top doctor by The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, and Hemispheres, in recent years. He has also been recognized as a ‘Leader in Health Care’ by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
He has served as an associate professor at UCLA for two decades, and has published many peer-reviewed articles and authored book chapters. He often acts as a frequent medical educator and expert contributor in the media.
His practice is affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Institute for Spinal Disorders and the UCLA Medical Center.
