Larklain Veterinary Services has become the first veterinary practice to earn Fear Free certification for both its brick-and-mortar location and mobile clinic, Fear Free, LLC announced today.

Fear Free Certified practices represent the highest standard of compassionate veterinary care and have successfully implemented Fear Free techniques into all aspects of their business: culture and leadership, client education, staff training, facility, and patient visits. Located in Berwyn, Penn., Larklain Veterinary Services is dedicated to improving the quality of life of pets by providing comprehensive, progressive, health and wellness care services to companion animals. This designation is a celebrated step in bringing the Fear Free approach to pet parents in the suburban Philadelphia area.

“Fear Free practice certification is a commitment to our patients and clients that a consistent, considerate approach will be demonstrated by every veterinary team member throughout every veterinary visit, from start to finish,” Clarissa Lyon, VMD, Elite FFCP (Veterinary), owner of Larklain Veterinary Services, said. “We are thrilled to be the first Fear Free-designed and Fear Free Certified practice in our community and are hopeful that we will not be the only one for long.”

Since 2016, Fear Free has provided online and in-person education to more than 150,000 veterinary and pet professionals. By closely listening to the needs of the veterinary profession, Fear Free has built a robust catalog of certification programs and courses that focus on the emotional wellbeing, enrichment, and the reduction of fear, anxiety, and stress in pets and improving the experience of every human and pet involved. Both individuals and veterinary practices can become Fear Free Certified.

“Larklain Veterinary Services began their Fear Free journey with their certified mobile unit and then created a land-based practice that exemplifies Fear Free in every aspect,” Jennifer Merlo, DVM, Fear Free Practice Certification Manager, said. “The pets and pet owners in the area are incredibly lucky to have this level of Fear Free care available to them, whether they choose to take their pet to the hospital or have the hospital come to them. I am excited to see all that Larklain will do in the coming years.”
