Diameter Health, developer of the leading platform for clinical data normalization and enhancement, today announced that KONZA, Inc., a leading nationwide health information network, will now use the company’s data refinement technology to deliver deduplicated, consolidated Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs) to physicians, hospitals and other healthcare organizations. By leveraging the functionality of Diameter Health technology, KONZA will help ease physician burden and in turn, improve patient care.

Physicians today are overburdened by the volume and quality of raw clinical data they receive; full documentation often contains both redundant and unnecessary information, compromising clinical interpretation at the point of care. KONZA, a longtime Diameter Health customer, saw an opportunity to transform the provider experience by providing one complete CCD that is deduplicated and normalized by the platform. As a result, physicians participating in KONZA’s seven health information exchanges can now easily find the clinical data they need, when they need it, and make informed care decisions more quickly. This increased efficiency improves the patient experience and facilitates better health outcomes.

“Physicians should not have to hunt and peck for relevant patient data in the electronic health record. That wasted time and energy can make all the difference in saving a life, especially when hospitals are at capacity during times of crisis,” said Laura McCrary, EdD, President and CEO at KONZA. “Together with our trusted technology partner, Diameter Health, we now put comprehensive summary documents into the hands of physicians so they can focus their full attention on patients instead of sorting through a myriad of documents.”

This functionality is now available to selected KONZA participants and will be gradually rolled out across the entire network in the next 60 days. KONZA has already worked extensively with Diameter Health to provide unique services to its participants. For example, the health information network leverages the Diameter Health platform to compute quality measures. By leveraging normalized, consolidated patient data from all of its members (instead of just referencing a single EHR), KONZA can more accurately reflect the true quality of care for a patient moving throughout the healthcare ecosystem.

“KONZA is among the nation’s most innovative health information exchanges and has long recognized that HIEs must evolve beyond data aggregation to provide additional value to their members,” said Eric Rosow, CEO at Diameter Health. “They’ve implemented our technology in unique ways for years and we’re excited to build on our joint success to make clinical data an asset to, rather than a strain on, the healthcare delivery system.”
