“Red Sneakers”: a darling rhyming work for young readers. “Red Sneakers” is the creation of published author Joan Parnell, an early childhood educator and artist and a mother of two boys. Parnell was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She currently resides in Glen Rose, Texas with her two Australian shepherds.
