International Philanthropy Leader Joins Global Wellness Institute Board of Advisors


As a recognized leader in philanthropy, Jean Sung is closely aligned with the institute’s critical nonprofit aspect and brings a global perspective to GWI’s mission to be the world resource for research and education in the $4.4 trillion global wellness economy

The nonprofit Global Wellness Institute™ (GWI), the leading research and educational resource for the global wellness industry, today announced Jean Sung, head of The Philanthropy Centre, Asia, for J.P. Morgan Private Bank, will join the 19-member GWI Board of Advisors. Sung, the first philanthropy advisor to be appointed to the GWI board, is known for her cross-sector and multilateral networks that help build collaborative alliances between the private and social sectors.

Prior to joining the J.P Morgan Private Bank, Sung led Global Philanthropy for J.P. Morgan Chase in Asia Pacific, managing the firm’s corporate giving in 13 Asian countries. In this role, she developed and implemented programs and services designed to improve livelihoods and skills at work, with a focus on economic and workforce development, financial empowerment, as well as education, health, and disaster relief with nonprofits and multilateral partners.

“Our health and wellness is not a sprint but a marathon,” said Sung. “We must, and should, keep ourselves abreast of global practitioners’ scientific perspectives, learn how researchers put data to work, and understand how those innovations actually help protect people’s health and meet their needs. I am honored to join the Advisory Board of the Global Wellness Institute.”

Sung also serves as Board governor and Executive Committee member of the Bai Xian Asia Institute; executive member of the Sustainability Committee, Link REIT; Executive Committee member of Outward Bound (HKG) and member of the McCain Global Leaders Advisory Council.
