RIO RANCHO, N.M. (PRWEB)
May 05, 2022
Ideal Option, a national leader in evidence-based treatment for addiction to fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, alcohol and other substances, is now welcoming new patients in Rio Rancho. The new outpatient clinic, located at 111 Rio Rancho Blvd SE, Suite 108, will provide treatment with FDA-approved medications led by an onsite provider.
Fentanyl, a dangerous and highly addictive synthetic opioid 50 times more potent than heroin, has caused overdose deaths to skyrocket in New Mexico. According to the CDC National Center for Health Statistics, there were 529 overdose deaths due to synthetic opioids reported in New Mexico during the 12-month period ending in October 2021, an 88% increase from the 282 deaths reported during the same period the year before.
Recent Ideal Option lab data show fentanyl positive rates among New Mexico patients at enrollment in 2021 were up by 71% displacing heroin positive rates which were down by 59% compared to 2020. In response, Ideal Option’s initiation protocols have been modified to better support patients transitioning from fentanyl to buprenorphine.
The new clinic in Rio Rancho is Ideal Option’s fourth location in New Mexico and is opening at a time of desperate need for expanded access to evidence-based treatment from experienced and specialized providers. Ideal Option has been specializing in addiction medicine for 10 years and operates 76 clinics across 10 states.
“Although it’s close to Albuquerque, Rio Rancho is a unique community that is often overlooked when it comes to treatment and recovery resources,” said Athena Huckaby, MPH, community outreach coordinator for New Mexico. “We look forward to partnering with local community organizations already hard at work here in Rio Rancho addressing the explosion in substance use during the pandemic.”
The new Ideal Option clinic in Rio Rancho is open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 111 Rio Rancho Blvd SE, Suite 108, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
Most forms of insurance are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid, and patients can typically get started on treatment for fentanyl, heroin, alcohol or other substances within 1-3 business days.
