Ideal Option Opens Addiction Medicine Clinic in Inver Grove Heights

Ideal Option, a national leader in evidence-based outpatient treatment for addiction to fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, alcohol and polysubstance, is now welcoming new patients in Inver Grove Heights. The new clinic, located at 5972 Cahill Ave, Ste. 112B, will provide evidence-based medication-assisted treatment led by an onsite addiction medicine specialist delivering personalized care to patients face-to-face.

Fentanyl, a dangerous and highly addictive synthetic opioid, has been the primary driver of the recent increase in overdose deaths in Minnesota. According to the state’s Department of Health, “Records show at least 1,286 people in Minnesota died of overdoses in 2021. And, most of the deaths were caused by synthetic opioids like fentanyl, which saw a 32% increase in fatal overdoses compared to 2020.”

The new clinic in Inver Grove Heights is Ideal Option’s second location in Minnesota and is opening at a time of desperate need for expanded access to evidence-based treatment from experienced and specialized providers.

According to Ideal Option’s 2021 treatment data for the Duluth location, fentanyl positive rates at enrollment were up by 74% displacing heroin positive rates which were down by 22% compared to 2020. The data also support the effectiveness of treatment. Among patients who remained in treatment with Ideal Option during 2021, urine drug testing shows:

  • 98% less fentanyl use
  • 92% less total opioid use
  • 91% less heroin use
  • 84% less methamphetamine use
