Ideal Option Opens Addiction Medicine Clinic in Federal Way

Ideal Option, a national leader in evidence-based outpatient treatment for addiction to fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, alcohol and polysubstance, is now welcoming new patients in Federal Way. The new clinic, located next to St. Francis Hospital, will provide evidence-based medication-assisted treatment led by an onsite addiction medicine specialist delivering personalized care to patients face-to-face.

Fentanyl, a dangerous and highly addictive synthetic opioid, has been the primary driver of the recent increase in overdose deaths in King County. According to the Washington State Department of Health, 346 overdose deaths due to fentanyl had occurred in King County by the end of Q4 2021, a 104% increase from the 170 overdose deaths in 2020. Street drugs of all types increasingly contain fentanyl, often masquerading as prescription tablets and capsules.

Ideal Option recently released its 2021 Annual Patient Outcomes Report for patients living in Washington State. The report shows fentanyl positive rates at enrollment were up by 134% displacing heroin positive rates which were down by 58% compared to 2020. The data also support the effectiveness of treatment. Among patients who remained in treatment with Ideal Option during 2021, urine drug testing shows:

  • 98% less fentanyl use
  • 93% less total opioid use
  • 95% less heroin use
  • 87% less methamphetamine use
  • 67% less benzodiazepine use

The new clinic in Federal Way is Ideal Option’s fifth standalone location in King County and is opening at a time of desperate need for expanded access to evidence-based treatment from experienced and specialized providers. Ideal Option has been specializing in addiction medicine for 10 years and currently operates 78 clinics across 10 states, 27 of which are in Washington State.

“Federal Way is the tenth-largest city in Washington and the fifth-largest in King County. There is limited access to resources, and one out of eight people live in poverty.” said Rose Symotiuk, community outreach manager for Washington State. “We are excited to open in this underserved community to expand access to Suboxone for people receiving Medicaid.”

The new Ideal Option clinic in Federal Way is open Monday – Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. and is located at 34616 11th Pl S, Ste. 5, Federal Way, WA 98003.

Most forms of insurance are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid, and patients can typically get started on treatment for fentanyl, heroin, alcohol or other substances within 1-3 business days.
