Funding research on GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder is an extremely important cause, and I’m happy to do anything I can to help families and individuals affected by this rare condition.

Horizon Photography will provide the official event photos of Gather for GRIN2B, GRIN2B Foundation’s first cocktail reception fundraiser. The event will be held on Monday, October 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found Kitchen and Social House in Evanston.

Proceeds will go toward funding research on GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder, a rare condition caused by variations on the GRIN2B gene.

“I’m really looking forward to helping get the word out about GRIN2B Foundation’s first cocktail reception fundraiser,” said Jennifer Schuman, owner of Horizon Photography. “Funding research on GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder is an extremely important cause, and I’m happy to do anything I can to help families and individuals affected by this rare condition. If you know Kevin Rubin and his work in the community, you know he goes beyond to help others, so this is the perfect time to pull together with him in this effort.”

Rubin is the president and CIO of Stratosphere Networks, one of the sponsors of Gather for GRIN2B. Some other corporate sponsors include Little Steps Pediatric Therapy, Accounting Concepts, Avalon Realty Associates, Lubin Austermuehle, P.C., and Rothman Law Group.

GRIN2B Foundation is a parent-run organization dedicated to providing support for those affected by GRIN2B variations and furthering research on the GRIN2B gene, which is part of a family of seven genes that encode proteins to create a receptor the sends chemical messages between neurons.

Symptoms of GRIN2B-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder can include speech delay or lack of speech, developmental delays, and low muscle tone. Individuals affected by this disorder might also experience associated conditions such as cortical visual impairment, seizures, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and/or intellectual disabilities.
