HHAeXchange Partners with North Carolina LME/MCOs to Ensure Federal Cures Act Compliance

HHAeXchange, a leading provider of homecare management solutions for payers, providers, and state Medicaid agencies, announced today that it has contracted with all seven of North Carolina’s local management entities/managed care organizations (LME/MCOs) to help them ensure compliance with the 21st Century Cures Act.

North Carolina’s LME/MCOs are responsible for managing and monitoring the provision of public mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for Medicaid beneficiaries and uninsured individuals in the regions they serve. Under the 21st Century Cures Act, all North Carolina Medicaid managed care organizations are required to implement Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) by January 1, 2021.

After independently evaluating the HHAeXchange platform, each North Carolina LME/MCO selected HHAeXchange as their EVV vendor. In total, HHAeXchange will serve more than 9,000 Medicaid members through North Carolina’s LME/MCO plans.

“The LME/MCOs are pleased to partner with HHAeXchange to implement an innovative technology that will help stamp out fraudulent care claims and ensure North Carolina citizens receive the care they are promised,” said Rob Robinson, Alliance Health chief executive officer.

HHAeXchange is the industry’s leading EVV solution, processing more than 250 million confirmed visits annually and billing over $13.7 billion in Medicaid claims on behalf of its partners.

With HHAeXchange as each LME/MCO’s primary network EVV management platform, North Carolina providers will be able to submit confirmed visits and bill directly to their LME/MCO through the free HHAeXchange Portal. In addition, providers will be able to utilize the HHAeXchange Portal for workflow efficiencies, including:

  • Free EVV tools
  • Open Model EDI Integration with third party EVV vendor visit data
  • Real-time, two-way messaging with NC LME/MCOs
  • Intelligent case broadcasting for open cases and new referrals
  • Receive recipient demographics and authorizations electronically in real-time
  • Pre-bill scrubbing to ensure cleaner claims and adherence to EVV requirements
  • Direct eBilling (837) and eRemittance (835)

“HHAeXchange is excited to have been chosen by all seven of the North Carolina LME/MCOs to achieve Cures Act compliance by January 1, 2021,” said Kim Glenn, senior vice president of government health plans at HHAeXchange. “We’re thrilled to offer our platform to enable each LME/MCO to not only achieve full compliance with the federal Cures Act mandate but also enhance member care, provide network efficiencies, and reduce fraud, waste, and abuse.”
