As part of its commitment to educating healthcare professionals and serving communities, the Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation has made a $25,000 endowment to the nursing program at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
The established “Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation Endowed Nursing Scholarship” will be awarded to Tyler Junior College nursing students based upon character, academic ability, and financial need.
“We are truly blessed to be able to work so closely with Tyler Junior College in establishing this endowment for their nursing school,” said Gina Daughtry, Executive Director of Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler. “We hope our relationship with the TJC nursing students will have such a positive impact that they will want to pursue careers in the field of hospice,” she added.
“We are deeply grateful for the services provided by and the partnership we have with Heart to Heart Hospice,” said Jodi Seal, Department Chair for the Tyler Junior College Nursing Program. “This generous endowment from their Foundation will provide students the opportunity to focus on classroom and clinical experiences, making them well-rounded, competent nurses. Students who benefit from this award will be able to provide and support quality end-of-life care in their communities.”
Dr. Juan E. Mejia, President of Tyler Junior College, remarked, “Our entire community wins when we have partners that help TJC provide well-prepared and educated healthcare professionals to serve the medical industry of our region. On behalf of everyone at our institution, we wholeheartedly thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their leadership and generosity.”
The Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation endowment is made available through the foundation’s Education and Scholarship program – one of its unique programs designed to reach those in the community by providing greater care, greater education, and a commitment to celebrate life.
“We believe that the greatest impact we have is through the ripple effect of education,” said Kelly Mitchell, CEO and Founder of Heart to Heart Hospice and President of Heart to Heart Hospice Foundation. “By training compassionate caregivers today, we are creating a brighter tomorrow. We are pleased to be a part of the highly respected nursing program at Tyler Junior College.”
