HealthJoy Appoints Michelle Byrd as Chief People Officer

HealthJoy, a healthcare navigation platform that connects employees to high-value care, today announced the appointment of Michelle Byrd to Chief People Officer.

Byrd, who’s held executive leadership roles for more than a decade, brings to HealthJoy an extensive background in human resources — for both well-established and emerging organizations — building and scaling organizational and talent strategy to optimize growth plans while creating workplaces that empower employees.

HealthJoy helps steer members to the best, most cost-effective care possible based on an employer’s health plan. As HR and Benefit Consultants add more care options, such as virtual mental health, MSK, second opinions, etc., user confusion has increased. HealthJoy helps integrate these fragmented experiences into a single digital platform, driving outmatched utilization across all the programs that exist within the plan. As Chief People Officer, Byrd will oversee HealthJoy’s International People Operations teams in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Michelle to the HealthJoy organization,” said Justin Holland, CEO of HealthJoy. “Her commitment to building thoughtful and high-impact workplaces and cultures perfectly align with HealthJoy’s mission and values. I look forward to working together, and continue to build a diverse group of caring people who want to help drive our members to more affordable, high-quality healthcare.”

Byrd has been a pioneer in organizational and talent strategy, previously serving as Chief People Officer for SparkPost (acquired by MessageBird) and Zaloni, where she owned and led all global HR, HR operations, people, talent and culture strategy, programs and processes, including business operations at scale and business strategy definition support. Byrd has also held roles as Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources and Global Head of Talent for Validant and Cardlytics, Inc., respectively; and as Vice President of Global HR & Talent at Silverpop (acquired by IBM).

“I’m passionate about creating workplaces that empower team members to deliver their best work every day,” Byrd said. “I’m excited to contribute my experience to HealthJoy, and look forward to building and enhancing a global talent foundation that enables HealthJoy to further innovate and drive real change for its members.”

Byrd earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill, N.C.
