Hammes Healthcare celebrates groundbreaking of Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute

Every aspect of this ambitious, large-scale project has been very deliberate and well thought out. We’re looking forward to executing this project with the same level of care as we move into the construction phase.

Hammes Healthcare, a leading provider of consulting and project delivery services, participated in the November 17th groundbreaking ceremony for the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in downtown Orlando. Hammes is serving as project manager for the hospital component of the new Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute, which is set to open in 2023.

The hospital is intended to serve as the premier destination orthopedic facility dedicated to the latest and safest technologies in orthopedic care as well as outstanding customer service and exceptional patient outcomes.

The new Institute includes a 197,170-square-foot inpatient hospital with 75 beds and 10 Operating Rooms (ORs); a 64,900-square-foot ambulatory surgery center comprised of 12 ORs; and a 108,600-square-foot medical office building with 67 exam rooms, outpatient rehab, retail pharmacy, imaging suite and a café.

During the planning phase for this project, Orlando Health created a mock OR, which allowed physicians and nurses to provide feedback before the OR design was finalized.

“This unique step served as an opportunity to make the prototype absolutely perfect before we build a large number of new ORs,” said Wade Milligan, Regional Vice President of Hammes Healthcare. “Every aspect of this ambitious, large-scale project has been very deliberate and well thought out. We’re looking forward to executing this project with the same level of care as we move into the construction phase.”
