Today, The Get the Medications Right™ (GTMRx) Institute, the catalyst for change to medication management that brings together critical stakeholders across health care, is announcing that Executive Director and Co-Founder, Katherine H. Capps will be speaking at this year’s America’s Physician Groups Colloquium (APG). The panel, comprised of leaders in healthcare and pharmacy practice, will address the importance of including pharmacists in the team-based care approach.
APG, which represents more than 335 physician groups with approximately 170,000 physicians providing care to nearly 90 million patients, is hosting this year’s Colloquium in Washington, D.C., and aims to provide hands-on knowledge and best practices from physician groups with successful track records in value-based care delivery, along with the big-picture view from policymakers bringing change to the healthcare system. Capps, who leads the GTMRx coalition of over 1,700 members calling for medication management reform, is part of the panel discussion on how pharmacists, as medication specialists, can work in collaborative practice with physicians to ensure the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications. The goal of this approach is to decrease physician burnout, increase patient satisfaction, and save lives.
