Great Point Partners Backed Spine & Sport Physical Therapy Appoints Rick Katz as Vice President of Business Development


Great Point Partners (“GPP”) today announced that the Spine & Sport Physical Therapy, a GPP II portfolio company, Board of Directors has appointed Rick Katz as Vice President of Business Development.

“After a comprehensive search process, the board is pleased to have found the best individual to assume this leadership role for the organization,” said Adam Elberg, chairman of the Spine & Sport board of directors, “One thing that I always wished we had during my time as CEO at Professional Physical Therapy, was an experienced clinician who has deep expertise in the government affairs of our profession. With Rick’s background as President of the California Physical Therapy Association, we have achieved this goal.”

Katz has close to 40 years of experience in the physical therapy industry and previously founded Adient Physical Therapy, which he grew to seven locations in the Western US, before he exited to ATI Physical Therapy in 2016. Most recently, Katz serves as the President of the California Physical Therapy Association. Additionally, he serves as an instructor in the physical therapy program at California State University, Northridge. Finally, he oversaw Operations and Payer Contracting for ATI, responsible for developing payer relationships Nationally (specialized in AK, OR and CA). He has used his clinician experience, general management, and payer relationships to drive efficiency in many physical therapy locations and has demonstrated a clear focus on disciplined implementation and performance metrics. Katz earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in health science and exercise physiology from California State University, Northridge and UCLA and his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from E.I.M Institute of Health in Louisville Kentucky.
