“The Verigene System allows us to enhance the accuracy of our diagnoses and provide treatment tailored to each patient. The entire diagnostic process is accomplished in one visit.”

GNO Snoring and Sinus, the New Orleans area experts in office based treatments for sleep apnea and sinusitis, has acquired a new laboratory test for their practice, improving their diagnostic accuracy and treatment for patients suffering from Chronic Sinusitis. The VERIGENE® System by Luminex enables the clinicians at GNO Snoring and Sinus to rapidly identify pathogens responsible for some of the most complex and persistent cases of chronic sinusitis.
“The Verigene System allows us to immediately determine whether or not our patients are suffering from viral or bacterial sinusitis,” said Dr. Akash Anand of GNO Snoring and Sinus. “This is important because should a patient have a viral flare up of their chronic sinusitis, they do not require antibiotic treatment. This allows us to reduce the number of antibiotics prescribed and prevent patients from developing resistance to key antibiotic medications, which they may need in the future.”
“All too often patients are prescribed antibiotics for sinusitis, when in most cases the culprit is a virus, not bacteria. The Verigene System allows us to enhance the accuracy of our diagnoses and provide treatment tailored to each patient. The entire diagnostic process is accomplished in one visit. Patients no longer need to schedule a separate visit to a hospital or outpatient laboratory for this test.”
The GNO Snoring and Sinus laboratory is both certified with the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) – a federally-overseen program who’s tasked with regulating and ensuring quality laboratory testing – as well as COLA accredited – a program approved by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and specializing in clinical laboratory education, consultation and accreditation.
