Georgia United Foundation’s Inaugural Day of Giving Raises $11,833

“We continue to leverage our 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization, the Georgia United Foundation, to make great impacts in our communities,” said Georgia United Credit Union President and CEO Debbie Smith.

Georgia United Foundation’s inaugural Day of Giving held June 13 was an inspirational success, doubling the targeted $5,000 fundraising goal and supporting the organization’s mission of community service.

The foundation, which is the charitable giving arm of Georgia United Credit Union, received almost $12,000 in online donations, with funds earmarked for scholarships, community grants, combatting food insecurity, healthcare for children, support for foster children and the organization’s School Crashers ® program.

“Community engagement is at the heart of our credit union philosophy of people helping people,” said Georgia United President and CEO Debbie Smith, who matched Georgia United team member donations. “Enriching the lives of those in the communities we serve is the focus of the Georgia United Foundation’s annual Day of Giving. We are grateful for the support we received this year and look forward to future years of making an impact on the lives of those we serve.”

June 13 was chosen for the giving program’s kickoff because it coincides with the date that Georgia United Foundation was chartered as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 2016.

Although the Day of Giving period has closed, donations to the foundation are accepted anytime at https://gucufoundation.org/donate.
