On Friday, October 21st, a group of four endurance athletes will embark on a mission to run 50 miles of the Grand Canyon, from the South Rim to North Rim and back again, to raise money and awareness for Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), one of the nation’s leading veteran service organizations.
This effort dubbed #CANJAM is part of the Acts of Valor campaign presented by Valor Craft Performance and includes a team of four athletes dedicated to supporting and empowering veterans and families of the fallen. The team includes: Albie Masland, President of Valor Craft Performance; Matt Peace and Nick Biase, two Veterans who have benefitted from TMF programming and training; and Sean Watson, Founder of Questify. The group will depart the South Rim of the Grand Canyon at 4 am the morning of October 21st, and will complete the run by returning to the South Rim by 7 pm the same day.
The #CANJAM campaign supports programming for veterans and families of the fallen heroes at Travis Manion Foundation. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, his legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, “If Not Me, Then Who…” Guided by this ethos, Travis Manion Foundation develops programs, training opportunities, and events to empower veterans and military families of the fallen to pass on their values to the next generation.
“The #CANJAM run is an opportunity for us to make an impact through our actions,” said Albie Masland, President, Valor Craft Performance and #CANJAM leader. “Before Travis Manion left on his final deployment he said ‘If Not Me, Then Who…’ and these five simple words have challenged people over the last 15 years to take action, demonstrate character and to serve. For us, these words resonate and give us an opportunity to inspire others to do something positive. We hope #CANJAM inspires you to take action in your own community and we hope you can support us on our mission to support veterans and families of fallen heroes through Travis Manion Foundation.”

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) unites communities to strengthen America’s national character by empowering veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop and lead future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis’ legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, “If Not Me, Then Who…” Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation.
