Alliance for Strong Families and Communities—FEI Behavioral Health has been named a finalist in BizTimes Media LLC’s 2019 Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The finalists will be recognized at a breakfast event Friday, Nov. 1 at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago Street.

The awards are designed to shine a light on the community impact of southeastern Wisconsin nonprofits. The program also salutes the work of for-profit organizations, executives and professionals who donate their time, talent and treasure to community causes.

More than 100 nominations were submitted for the program this year, and 26 finalists were named in eight different categories. A winner in each category will be announced the morning of the event. The Alliance’s FEI has been named a finalist in the Social Enterprise category. This award recognizes a nonprofit organization that demonstrates creative application of the principles of social enterprise in the operation and funding of the organization.

“FEI was founded to leverage the expertise of professional counselors and social workers in the Alliance network to build resilience within workforces, families and communities,” said Ted Uczen, FEI President and CEO. “Being considered for the Social Enterprise award is an honor and testament to the important work FEI has done in the community for 40 years. We are proud of our investment in the Alliance’s mission and continually look for ways to strengthen communities in southeastern Wisconsin and throughout the country.”

Throughout its 40-year history, FEI has contributed over $44 million (about $1.2 million in 2018) to support the Alliance’s work and the communities served by the human servicing agencies of the Alliance’s Strategic Action Network. FEI also offers Alliance member organizations an array of partnership opportunities to generate revenue, heighten community impact and enhance staff resiliency.

In addition to the awards themselves, the Nonprofit Excellence Awards program will include a panel discussion on how chronic and family homelessness are growing concerns and challenging issues that impact the entire Milwaukee-area community.
