Evidence-Based Addiction Treatment Now Available at Compass Housing Alliance

Compass Housing Alliance has welcomed Ideal Option, a leader in evidence-based treatment for addiction to opioids, alcohol, meth, and other substances, as the newest onsite service provider inside their Day Center in Pioneer Square located at 210 Alaskan Way S., Seattle, WA 98104.

Ideal Option will staff a private kiosk for new and existing patients on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm – 4pm. New patients can enroll and complete their first visit with an addiction medicine provider via telemedicine at the kiosk to obtain a prescription for FDA-approved medications such as Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, and Bupropion. Patients can continue treatment at the kiosk or at one of Ideal Option’s several clinic locations in the greater Seattle area. Ideal Option accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most commercial insurance plans.

“Here at Compass Housing Alliance we embrace a harm reduction, low barrier model to accessing both housing and services while walking along side people towards their goals, and encouraging safe, healthy and higher quality living. Treatment for substance use disorder is often an important part of the process that unlocks the ability for people to get off the streets and enter stable housing, seek employment, and rebuild relationships in their life.” Said Teena Ellison, Director of Housing Services, “We’re excited to be able to offer evidence-based treatment on demand to the thousands of people who come through our Day Center each year, as well as people living in Compass’s transitional and permanent supportive housing.”

Starting treatment using a telemedicine kiosk has been made possible by DEA emergency guidance driven by the pandemic that waives the requirement for a physical exam before prescribing controlled substances.

“We created a satellite service model to help people get needed substance use disorder treatment when and where it is most convenient and comfortable for them,” said Tim Kilgallon, CEO at Ideal Option. “The ability to deliver evidence-based treatment to underserved patients while they access housing and other services to help them rebuild their lives will make a momentous impact on the drug epidemic.”
