“With the support of ClinicalPath’s breakthrough evidence-based oncology pathways and the associated analytics suite, health systems can run efficient, patient-specific clinical trial programs that can change lives” – James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough

Elsevier, the leading global publisher of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, today announced that ClinicalPath has been selected as “Best Computerized Decision Support Solution” in the 7th annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by MedTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global health and medical technology market. This is ClinicalPath’s fourth year winning this award.

ClinicalPath, Elsevier’s evidence-based oncology clinical decision support tool, boasts a growing collaborative network of oncology physicians at the forefront of caring for cancer patients and provides coverage of over 95% of the most common cancer cases in medical and radiation oncology. ClinicalPath systematically helps cancer centers take the guesswork out of recruiting the right patients for their clinical trials. Embedded in the clinical workflow to help physicians make consistent, well-informed decisions for high quality care, ClinicalPath’s oncology pathways enable oncologists to stay informed about the latest available clinical trials—both within the organization and nationally.

Patient-specific clinical trials are surfaced based on detailed trial inclusion and exclusion criteria. This enables oncologists to identify eligible patients for screening and ultimately supports increased trial accrual. Supplemented by dynamic clinical trial analytics, ClinicalPath empowers healthcare leaders to open and close the right trials based on their patient population, identifies where gaps may exist in their current trial portfolio, and provides support to trial coordinators by eliminating some of the manual patient pre-screening efforts.

“Many thanks to MedTech Breakthrough for recognizing the importance of ClinicalPath. ClinicalPath’s evidence-based clinical pathways play a crucial role in advancing cancer care and enhancing patient outcomes by providing a standardized approach to treatment,” said Josh Schoeller, President of Clinical Solutions at Elsevier. “By incorporating clinical trial options into these pathways, we have the opportunity to not only provide patients with the most effective and personalized treatments available but also contribute to the development of new and innovative therapies through clinical research.”

The mission of the MedTech Breakthrough Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the innovation, hard work and success in a range of health and medical technology categories, including Telehealth, Clinical Administration, Patient Engagement, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Virtual Care, Medical Devices, Medical Data and many more. This year’s program attracted more than 4,000 nominations from over 17 different countries throughout the world.

“While clinical trial programs play an integral role in advancing cancer care with groundbreaking research that identifies new, more effective means to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer, recruiting the right patients for clinical trials in oncology is particularly challenging. Even though the number of patients interested in participating is high, capturing the right patients for the right trials is difficult,” said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. “With the support of ClinicalPath’s breakthrough evidence-based oncology pathways and the associated analytics suite, health systems can run efficient, patient-specific clinical trial programs that can change lives. We’re thrilled to award Elsevier’s ClinicalPath with ‘Best Computerized Decision Support Solution.’”
