Eagle Telemedicine Enhances Health Access for Rural Communities with Broadened NRHA Relationship

Eagle Telemedicine

At Eagle, we are working to solve the health coverage gap problem by increasing rural hospitals’ access to round-the-clock overage with on-demand inpatient physicians.

Eagle Telemedicine, the leader in technology-enabled inpatient care for sustainable healthcare resilience, today announced that it has renewed its support for the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). Focused on its mission to expand access to healthcare for all communities, particularly those in vulnerable rural areas, Eagle is reinforcing its support to NRHA in an effort to contribute to solutions to bridge the care access gap.

CDC data has found that low access to care in rural America is resulting in dramatically higher rates of death compared to urban areas including heart disease (42.6%/27.6%), cancer (24.2%/13/5%), unintentional injury (57.5%/39.2%), chronic lower respiratory disease (54.3%/30.9%) and stroke (37.8%/26.1%). This is due to lower access to care, healthcare workforce shortages and recruiting challenges, as well as lower health literacy. As much as 20% of the U.S. population resides in rural communities, placing millions of Americans at a healthcare disadvantage.

Eagle Telemedicine is rising as part of the solution. For those hospitals that face increasing care costs, challenging night shift and specialist staffing challenges and heightened burnout rates, Eagle delivers care services that improve patient outcomes. By mitigating coverage gaps, expanding specialty access and helping hospitals enhance care quality and reputation in the communities they serve, Eagle is empowering rural and metropolitan hospitals alike to increase their admissions, expand service access and lower patient transfer rates.

“At Eagle, we are working to solve the health coverage gap problem by increasing rural hospitals’ access to round-the-clock overage with on-demand inpatient physicians,” said Jason Povio, President and Chief Operating Officer, Eagle Telemedicine. “In partnership with NRHA, we aim to make a significant difference in the health and lives of Americans in rural communities which have been hit particularly hard by physician shortages and a growing care disparity. We believe in quality healthcare for everyone and are working in partnership with NRHA to make this a reality.”

“Eagle Telemedicine is helping to transform the healthcare challenge in rural communities by increasing access to physicians and specialists that would otherwise be out of reach for many patients,” said Larry Bedell, Executive Director, NRHA Services Corporation. “We are honored to renew our partner relationship with them as we work together on solving tough rural health issues through advocacy, communications, education and research.”

As part of its renewed relationship with NRHA, Eagle Telemedicine will be exhibiting in booth #102 at the upcoming 21st Critical Access Hospital Conference, this week, September 21 – 23 in Kansas City, Mo. More information is available here.
