For the 7th consecutive year, Moderation Management™ is once again offering the increasingly popular Dryuary program in January 2021. According to a study published in JAMA Network Open, the global health crisis of 2020 has led to an increase in alcohol sales and consumption.1 Dryuary 2021 is an opportunity to return to better habits, or develop new habits, related to alcohol use that can be carried through the year. This online program provides participants with a supportive environment for taking a month-long break from alcohol. Registration is open at http://www.dryuary.org.
Participants receive daily motivational communications, tips for abstaining from alcohol for the month, and insights on how to return to a lifestyle that includes drinking alcohol in moderation. Dryuary is offered free of charge, but a donation to Moderation Management is requested to help cover administrative fees.
The benefits of giving up alcohol are many, with participants reporting improved sleep, having more energy, and feeling more motivated. As one anonymous participant expressed, “It’s always great to start the year with clarity and look back at what was accomplished and what wasn’t on the long list of resolutions, this is a new beginning; the journey starts today.”
“We are excited to be offering Dryuary again in 2021 to encourage people around the world to take one month off from drinking,” says Andrea P., Special Programs Coordinator for Moderation Management. “Everyone can benefit from abstaining from alcohol for 1/12th of the year, and certainly this year has had its challenges. We look forward to offering inspiration and support to all participants.”
