Dr. Rubinstein Introduces ClariFix® at Hudson Valley Sinus Center

Dr. Ran Y. Rubinstein, an ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) physician and sinus specialist who diagnoses and treats nasal and sinus problems, is pleased to introduce a new approach to the treatment of chronic rhinitis at his practice, Hudson Valley Sinus Center. ClariFix® uses cryotherapy to cool inflamed nasal tissue and underlying nerves to provide long-term relief of symptoms related to allergic and non-allergic chronic rhinitis.

More than 24-million Americans suffer daily from intrusive symptoms caused by chronic rhinitis. ClariFix® with cryotherapy is an effective, proven treatment that delivers therapeutic freezing or near-freezing temperatures to the back of the nose. This cutting-edge technology offers patients a potential solution for chronic symptoms and a replacement for medications like nasal sprays, drops, and pills that are typically used to treat chronic rhinitis.

ClariFix® is performed in the office. Topical numbing medication is gently inserted into the nose and left in place for 10 to 15 minutes before Dr. Rubinstein completes a 30-second treatment in each nasal passage with a cryotherapy wand. The freezing temperatures interrupt the faulty nerves that are responsible for symptoms like congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, and coughing.

Patients typically have minimal discomfort during the procedure and most can return to work immediately after the procedure. Common side effects may include temporarily increased congestion and discomfort, which usually resolve after one to two days. It can take up to 6 weeks to feel the full benefits of this procedure. ClariFix® cryotherapy is a safe and effective procedure and is the first and only FDA-approved device for the treatment of chronic rhinitis.

Clinical study results published in October 2019 showed that the treatment was well-tolerated with no adverse events, and four out of five patients reported long-lasting improvements. The results were similar for both allergic and non-allergic chronic rhinitis patients.
