Harvey V. Fineberg, MD, PhD, chair of the National Academies’ Standing Committee on Emerging Infectious Diseases and 21st Century Health Threats, will present “Public Policy Decision-making During the COVID-19 Pandemic” during a special session at the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology 2020 Virtual Scientific Session.

ASNC2020 will include more than 40 sessions delivered in a variety of formats between Sept. 9 and Oct. 7. The ASNC2020 virtual live program will convene Sept. 25-26.

Dr. Fineberg coauthored, The Epidemic That Never Was: Policy-Making and the Swine Flu Scare. He is president of the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and board chair of the Science Philanthropy Alliance. He previously served as president of the Institute of Medicine, provost of Harvard University, and Dean of the Harvard Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Fineberg will deliver his keynote during the ASNC2020 session “COVID-19: Public Policy Update and Best Practices for Nuclear Cardiology” on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10:30 AM (ET). This session is among several at ASNC2020 addressing cardiovascular care during the COVID-19 public health emergency.

ASNC2020 will provide a forum to share this information and engage in thoughtful discourse with attendees.”

ASNC2020 will deliver the latest updates across the fields of nuclear cardiology and molecular imaging with a focus on “Using Technology to Improve Patient Care.”

Dr. Di Carli is chief of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging and director of the cardiovascular imaging program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and professor of radiology and medicine at Harvard Medical School.

ASNC2020 will also feature, “Diversity and Inclusion in Clinical Nuclear Cardiology – A Case-Based Ethics Session,” moderated by Ola (Olakunle) Akinboboye, MD, MBA, FACC, MPH, FACP, chairman of the Cardiovascular Disease Board at American Board of Internal Medicine and Andrew J. Einstein, MD, PhD, associate professor at Columbia University Medical Center. This will be a joint session with the Association of Black Cardiologists on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm (ET).
