Focusing on the development of the first Microsoft Italian Data Center Region, the relationship reinforces our joint commitment to sovereignty of data and cloud services to boost the digital transformation of the country.

The new Region will enhance the migration of public and private organizations on local and secure cloud services, a key priority in the healthcare industry, where Dedalus has forged a significant position in accelerating the cloud journey for many companies.

Dedalus is a leading healthcare and diagnostic software provider in Europe and one of the largest in the world, providing solutions that touch more than 540 million people across 6,700 healthcare organizations in 40 countries. Dedalus has more electronic health records (EHRs) installed in hospitals outside the U.S. than any other vendor and manages more than 4 billion diagnostic results per year.

Globally, this relationship builds on Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare and incorporates Nuance’s conversational AI to help unburden clinicians and care teams with efficient ways to capture clinical information across the continuum of care. At a local level, this collaboration enables Dedalus to accelerate innovation and deliver greater value to the broader Italian health system and a more efficient service to Italian citizens.

Microsoft Azure provides critical IT and business operations infrastructure for Dedalus – from the use of Microsoft 365 and employee experience platform Viva to improve collaboration, productivity, and wellbeing to Microsoft Dynamics 365 to drive organizational process efficiencies. By migrating Dedalus solutions on Microsoft Cloud and integrating them with other Microsoft technologies, healthcare organizations will be able to respond to the industry’s urgency for transformation and address the increasing need to provide value-based care and better meet patients’ priorities.

“Healthcare lags behind many other industry sectors in terms of digital transformation,” said Andrea Fiumicelli, CEO of Dedalus Group. “At the same time, our clients are increasing their focus and the demand for new digital solutions while addressing the challenges of security, business continuity, reliability, flexibility, performance, and costs. The cloud is seen as the way to meet these challenges while reducing their carbon footprint and delivering best-in-class solutions to end users.”

“The healthcare system can benefit tremendously from the collaboration between Microsoft and Dedalus. The security, speed and computational power provided by the Microsoft Azure cloud platform combined with Nuance’s AI-powered solutions, such as the conversational AI workflow assistant and documentation companion Dragon Medical One will complement the vertical expertise and ad hoc solutions built by the Dedalus team. Together, we will build a solid foundation for the future of healthcare by improving the experience for patients and clinicians,” comments Elena Bonfiglioli, General Manager Healthcare, Pharma Life Sciences at Microsoft Healthcare.

With this announcement, Dedalus will accelerate the transformation of its portfolio services including interoperability and digital data platform to create next generation digital solutions that enable new models of care designed around “whole Person’s care”:

  • Prevention: Dedicated solution for General Practitioners, built on 40 years of experience and collaboration with doctors
  • Early Detection and Screening: Support complex workflows related to screenings, vaccinations, and population health management
  • Diagnostics: Full spectrum of integrated solution that pivots paradigm from “In vitro” diagnostics to “in vivo” diagnostics
  • Treatment: Supporting healthcare professionals in providing safe and effective care to patients.
  • Follow-up, Rehabilitation and End-of-Life: Providing a full set of functionalities to ensure effective collaboration between the different actors and institutions to provide the needed continuity of care to patients and their families.

The two companies will continue to explore new areas of innovation and use our joint expertise and skills to develop new vertical solutions for new use cases that will be available in Microsoft Azure Marketplace.
