I feel that the use of teamwork and communication amongst all of our staff play a key role in the safety of the work environment we provide on a daily basis.

On November 7, 2019 Cypress Place Assisted Living, located at 1200 Cypress Point Lane in Ventura, CA, has maintained accident-free status among its staff for an entire year. To celebrate this commendable accomplishment, Cypress Place is rewarding its employees for their diligent work with festivities and complimentary access to a regional favorite restaurant food truck serving burgers in December. Upon the six-month mark the staff was treated to an employee favorite “Taco Day” with a food truck serving made-to-order tacos.

“The amazing staff at Cypress Place works so meticulously in providing excellent care, attention to detail, and unparalleled customer service to our residents and families,” expressed Glen Cummins, Meridian Senior Living Regional Director of Operations. “I feel that the use of teamwork and communication amongst all of our staff play a key role in the safety of the work environment we provide on a daily basis.”

“We are extremely proud of our staff in working so hard in achieving one year without accidents,” states Steve Spira, Executive Director of Cypress Place. “We pride ourselves in making safety a priority in our community and aim for another year accident free.”

Maintaining accident-free status at Cypress Place is an amazing feat as the statistics for injuries among workers in senior living facilities is staggering. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in the year 2000 senior living home facilities had 100,000 or more injuries and illnesses ranking the third highest among U.S. industries. In 2008 the senior living home industry injury and illness incident rate of 12.5 injuries per 100 full-time workers is almost three times the industry average.

Preventing and addressing any potential occupational hazards along with quality training of staff is vital in helping prevent accidents among staff in senior living facilities. At Cypress Place, the leadership has established protocols to promote a safe environment for staff to work.

Acquired by Meridian Senior Living on June 1st, 2019, Cypress Place offers 152-beds with 76 independent living, 56 assisted living and 20 memory care units.
