This FDA clearance is the culmination of years of work reshaping the scale of our core product and completely alters the trajectory of Critical Alert

Critical Alert, a leading provider of enterprise-class patient communications software for hospitals and healthcare systems, announced today it has been granted FDA clearance for its CommonPath Enterprise software platform as a Class II Medical Device. The platform provides the intelligent routing of patient events and medical device alarms with robust analytics on a single enterprise platform.

CommonPath Enterprise, architected to be centrally configured and managed from a single data center, can be deployed across any size healthcare enterprise. The SaaS platform includes support for UL-1069 nurse call with the native ability to use any third-party call light hardware, medical devices, and clinical communication & collaboration platforms.

“This clearance is the culmination of years of work reshaping the scale of our core product and completely alters the trajectory of Critical Alert,” said April Hjort, vice president of research and development at the company. “Our current and future customers will benefit from this commitment to innovation and interoperability. I am proud to have been part of this transformation and excited to see the adoption of our innovative approach in the marketplace,” continued Hjort.

CommonPath Enterprise transforms a disparate patient communication ecosystem into a connected, real-time health system enabling caregivers to provide more efficient and informed responses to patient needs and safety. It also empowers leadership with intuitive easy-to-configure workflow and analytics software for continuous improvement of processes.

“CommonPath Enterprise is unique in the nurse call industry in that, as a software-based platform, it can function on our signaling equipment, as well as that made by third-party manufacturers, breathing new life into legacy systems without turning a system upgrade into a construction project,” stated John Elms, CEO at Critical Alert. “With FDA clearance, we can now bring convergence to physical requests from the patients with physiological needs communicated by connected medical devices on the same modern and cybersecure platform,” continued Elms.
