Covalus LLC, a consulting firm that combines strategic planning and implementation services, announces the appointment of Jerry Darby as the new leader of our Strategic Advisory Services. With over 25 years of experience as a management consultant in the healthcare industry and as a health system executive, Jerry will focus on transforming operations, maximizing existing assets, and ensuring the successful implementation of clients’ key strategic business objectives. He has been a key innovator in hospital openings and activation processes in North America and in the Middle East by changing the way organizations develop and open major physical assets.
Jerry has planned, developed, and activated more than 30 million square feet of space during his 25-year career. He has expertise in Public Private Partnerships and development of clinical relationships across borders. He has worked for a majority of U.S. News & World Report’s Top Hospitals including Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, and Massachusetts General Hospital. His international clients include Edmonton Clinic in Canada, King’s College Hospital in the UAE, and Aldara Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Our Strategic Advisory Services include:
-Strategic Delivery Planning – Analysis and development of key business initiatives and key service lines to ensure appropriate market distribution, penetration, and clinical network integration.
-Scenario Planning- Development of multiple future state possibilities, including identification of organization risk profiles and projected outcomes; market indicators and the strategic and operational responses associated with each potential future state.
-Facility Development and Design- Consulting for the designing of new facilities and redesigning existing facilities to promote patient flow; working with architectural and regulatory guidelines to improve patient care and operations.
-Operational Process Visioning- Designing and implementing operational processes, maximizing efficiencies in patient throughput and care delivery; understanding the importance of creating a team approach to patient care involving staff, administration and physicians.

Jerry lives in the Twin Cities Metro area with his wife and his three children. He enjoys fly fishing, biking, golf, wildlife/land management, and travel. Before joining Covalus, Jerry spent 18 years at Kurt Salmon, as a Senior Partner leading the Business Advisory Group.
