Corstrata, Inc., a leading, tech-enabled, virtual wound and ostomy Telehealth company, has announced the appointment of Yosef Nasseri, MD, FACS, FASCRS, as a Senior Advisor to the company. Dr. Nasseri is a double board-certified surgeon specializing in general and colorectal surgery and a recognized national leader in colorectal and minimally invasive and robotic surgery. His practice, Surgery Group of Los Angeles which is affiliated with the very large and prestigious Cedars Sinai Medical Center, offers state of the art and concierge like service for patients needing surgical solutions for lower digestive tract diseases including inflammatory bowel syndrome, diverticulitis, and colorectal cancer.
“Corstrata is honored to have Dr. Nasseri join Corstrata as a Senior Advisor,” said Katherine Piette, Chief Executive Officer, and Founder, Corstrata. “We believe his vast knowledge and network around stoma-related colorectal surgical interventions will be invaluable in Corstrata’s growth strategy especially as care is ‘moving home’ through value-based models of care such as Hospital at Home.”
Dr. Nasseri is a leading expert and key national opinion leader in the latest cutting-edge technologies for minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Nasseri is actively involved in teaching and research and is the author of numerous journal articles and book chapters. He actively serves on multiple national surgical committees including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Southwestern Surgical Congress, and the Consortium for Optimizing the Treatment of Rectal Anal Cancer. He was elected by his peers to serve on the board of governors of the esteemed American College of Surgeons.
“As a colorectal surgeon, I have deep respect for the expertise board-certified ostomy nurses provide my ostomy patients in optimizing their quality of life through education and clinical support. Finding access to an ostomy nurse is often a challenge for both providers and ostomy patients; Corstrata fills that unmet need and is poised to solve this problem through its technology platform coupled with a network of ostomy specialists,” as stated by Dr. Nasseri.
Corstrata is tackling the challenge of access to ostomy experts. Ostomates number one million in the U.S. with greater than one hundred twenty thousand new ostomy surgical procedures annually. With only six thousand board-certified ostomy nurses in the U.S., and ninety percent of those serving patients in the hospital setting, accessibility to these nurses is very limited for patients at home. Corstrata’s service-enabled technology platform allows ostomy patients to access ostomy experts from their homes. Corstrata’s high customer satisfaction survey return rate (72%), coupled with 99% of consumers who would recommend the service to a friend, and 22% indicating they avoided an Emergency Room visit, sets Corstrata apart from all other virtual ostomy service solutions.
