Configo Health Launches with Investment from Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s National Hospital

“We are delighted to announce Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s National Hospital, two of the top children’s hospitals in the nation, as our founding investors,” said Craig Manson, CEO of Configo Health.

Configo Health Inc., a healthcare data and analytics company specializing in pediatrics, launched today and announced it has secured investment funding from Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s National Hospital. The organization also appointed industry veteran Stephanie Alexander as Chair.

Configo Health addresses the lack of credible benchmarked data accessible both to administrators and clinicians working within pediatric hospitals and to patients and their families. Using both machine learning and more traditional retrospective analytics, Configo Health delivers actionable insight with near real-time relevance to improve patient safety and achieve better outcomes for children.

By creating a dataset that will cover the breadth of pediatric care, Configo Health will provide public ratings organizations with the option to use risk-adjusted performance data to assess the quality of care delivered by hospitals across the country more effectively.

“Today’s six month lag for benchmarked pediatric outcomes data just isn’t acceptable. Configo’s move to near real-time insight will be a game changer for driving improvement,” said Dr. Eric Williams, System Chief Quality Officer at Texas Children’s Hospital. “Quicker access to this validated data means more decisions can be made bedside leading to improved outcomes for the patients and families we serve.”

Experts in extracting administrative data from pediatric hospitals, Configo Health provides HIPAA-compliant processes, secure data storage facilities, data cleansing and sophisticated analytical processing. By analyzing and evaluating data, organizations can reduce serious safety events, reduce mortality rates, optimize length of stay and reduce readmissions.

“We are delighted to announce Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s National Hospital, two of the top children’s hospitals in the nation, as our founding investors,” said Craig Manson, CEO of Configo Health. “These relationships go well beyond capital and will allow us to develop solutions that truly meet the needs of pediatric hospitals and their patients and families.”

Alec King, Chief Financial Officer of Children’s National Hospital added, “We invested in Configo Health because we believe they have the vision, experience and skills to revolutionize access to clear, actionable data across all functions within our institution.”

Stephanie Alexander, former President of Premier Analytics and most recently CEO of PeraHealth, the leading clinical decision support tool, will join Configo Health as Chair.

“I’m thrilled to join the talented Configo Health team at this exciting time in their development,” said Alexander. “Having pioneered the use of data as a driver for improvement and efficiency in adult care, I’m relishing the opportunity to be part of an organization set to transform the role data plays in pediatric medicine.”
