“COCM’s highest priority is caring for our student residents and personnel,” said Doug Brown, President of COCM.

With a growing number of colleges and universities announcing plans to fully re-open in the fall, operators of student housing are scrambling to implement practices that will help reduce residents’ risk of getting sick when they return. COCM, which manages over 37,000 student housing beds on 38 campuses across the country, has researched best practices and identified solutions to reduce risk and promote good physical health for students moving into its communities this fall.

“COCM’s highest priority is caring for our student residents and personnel,” said Doug Brown, President of COCM. To this end, the leadership of COCM has developed a re-opening plan and communicated these best practices to site and home office personnel to reduce the likelihood of potential virus outbreaks.

The student housing professionals on the COCM team carefully studied information provided by campus experts and national authorities to help identify the challenges and lay out a proactive and intentional roadmap for returning students to campus housing. The plan addresses occupancy management, preparation of facilities, adjustments to amenity use, move-in day considerations, and changes to daily operating procedures.
