Research to develop and test a vaccine to protect against COVID-19 is ramping up quickly. The first clinical trial of a vaccine in Seattle, WA, testing 45 young, healthy volunteers is underway. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) says even if initial tests go well, it could take up to 18 months before a vaccine offering longer protection is available for widespread use.
